The wamcam is a new kind of camera, that prints images onto your eye instead of onto film. Through Localized Retinal Overstimulation, the wamcam leaves on an image on it's users eye. These images persist for several minutes, and are visible by blinking. At 8:22:22 on 2/22 at Eyebeam in New York, this image recorded the first ever mass implementation.

The personal wamcam is held at reading distance. The user winds the filmstrip to the next image, looks inside, and presses the shutter button. An inverted flash fires through the camera and exposes the viewer's eye to a hand etched image. The wamcam is a startling and over-stimulating experience, though theoretically harmless. In this way, images take an alternate route to memory, through primtive centers activated in trauma. Because the image is born directly on the retina, blinking is the only necessary effort to view it. It is the first fully automated memory machine, transferring images directly to the viewer's subconscious.
Currently, the available wamcam strips include rare dog breeds and the US states. Larger single image versions are devoted to the wamcam's creator and the word Remember. Eventually, all knowledge could be made accessible through the wamcam.
